Choosing how to pay a Chinese supplier
Start with the invoice currency and the account your supplier accepts. Then compare the total cost, recipient requirements and estimated arrival time.
Choose a method the supplier can receive
Bank details are used for a bank payment. An Alipay or WeChat Pay identifier is used for a wallet payment. If the order has its own marketplace checkout, use the payment instructions attached to that order.
What to check
Recipient details identify the kind of payment you need. Availability and charges still depend on the service used.
Bank payment
- When to use these details
- The supplier provides a business bank account for the invoice currency.
- Information to prepare
- Company name, bank, account number and the bank identifiers requested for the transfer.
Alipay or WeChat Pay
- When to use these details
- The supplier provides a wallet recipient that your payment service supports.
- Information to prepare
- The wallet recipient details. A wallet identifier cannot be used as a bank account number.
Marketplace checkout
- When to use these details
- The order is paid through the platform where it was placed.
- Information to prepare
- The order’s payment instructions and its terms for payment disputes and buyer protection.
Check the recipient before choosing a method
A bank account, an Alipay account and a marketplace checkout require different recipient details. Confirm which belongs to your supplier and whether it can receive the invoice currency.
In Unigox, the available methods are shown for your payment. An option to save recipient details does not mean that sending is available. Check the payment screen before moving funds.
Compare the same invoice
Use the amount your supplier must receive when comparing prices. Include provider fees and any costs of obtaining the currency you will pay with.
Check estimated delivery and the payment record you will receive. Unigox is not affiliated with Alipay, WeChat Pay or the marketplaces where you find suppliers.
Paying your supplier in USD?
If your supplier asks for USD, their bank account may be in mainland China, Hong Kong or Singapore. Choose the location shown in their bank details.
